Study notes

Unit 1 builds the foundation for all of calculus: limits and continuity. You'll start with the intuitive definition of a limit, then learn algebraic techniques for evaluating limits (factoring, rationalizing, absolute value cases) before tackling special limits involving exponentials, trig functions, and logarithms. From there, you'll cover infinite limits and vertical asymptotes, limits at infinity and horizontal asymptotes, and the Squeeze Theorem. The unit closes with continuity: the three-part definition, classifying removable, jump, and infinite discontinuities, the Intermediate Value Theorem, and piecewise functions. Master these skills now — they're the backbone of derivatives and integrals later in the course.
